Rezum therapy, or Steam Therapy, for treating the prostate is a minimally invasive procedure that involves injecting steam to destroy excess prostate tissue. Clinical evidence suggests that using Rezum helps alleviate lower urinary tract symptoms caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men experiencing moderate to severe symptoms and with moderate prostate enlargement. Additionally, evidence indicates that Rezum usage is associated with improvements in quality of life and a reduced risk of erectile dysfunction. Cost analyses suggest that using Rezum as an alternative to standard treatments such as TURP or HoLEP could potentially lead to cost savings because it is performed as an outpatient surgery with low operating and recovery costs. Early results are promising, with 333 men treated showing a 72% success rate at two years, 96% same-day discharge, and a low rate of serious complications.
